PM Modi Accorded Guard of Honour, Conferred 'Guardian of the Blue Horizon' Title in Seychelles

The Indian PM, Narendra Modi who is on a three-day visit to Seychelles, June 28, 2026 has been accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour. During the visit, he was also conferred with the 'Guardian of the Blue Horizon' title.

Seychelles- India diplomatic ties 

Indian PM was invited as the guest of honor for Seychelles's Golden Jubilee National Day celebrations. The event marked 50 years since Seychelles gained independence, and half a century of India-Seychelles diplomatic partnership.

Led by PM Modi and President Dr. Patrick Herminie, the two countries held a delegation talks. The meeting was focused on discussions on strengthening bilateral ties with anticipation on both sides to cooperate in maritime security and developments.

Through his X account, (Modi has humbly appreciated the title). "Grateful to the people and Government of Seychelles as well as the president Dr. Patrick Herminie for conferring upon me the 'Guardian of the Blue Horizon '." he stated

On his statement on X account, Modi has given a strong challenge on climate change. The PM has stated, "I dedicate this honour to all those countries fighting for climate change and consider environmental protection their responsibility..."

He also reflected on how India has strongly fought for climate change through its involvement in domestic policies, International Solar Alliance and Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure.

India opposition party reaction 

According to reports from The Guardian, Opposition Congress Party didn't hesitate to react to Modi's award criticizing that the certificate had been misspelled "repubblic" and "seycheeles" instead of "republic" and "Seychelles".

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is in leadership of the Prime Minister, hit back at opposition's controversy by noting that Modi has received the award for good leadership and there is no need to criticize it.

As Reuters reports say, the Indian PM has been awarded Guard of Honour from different states. According to their data, Modi was accorded guard of honour at Kolkata, India on June 21, 2026, at Melbourne in Australia during his tour and in New Zealand by Auckland's army

PM Modi's awards strengthens India bilateral ties 

In conclusion, guard of honour awards have ensured India and other nations foster stronger bilateral ties thus putting both PM Modi and the country on a global map. The award also affirms Modi's accomplishments. This shows how many countries do more than welcoming a leader.
