One Dead, Several Injured After a Plane Crash in Laredo, Texas

Earlier today, a jet with six people crashed near Laredo Texas. 

According to the Laredo Police spokesperson, Jose Baeza , the jet struck a car along Laredo loop 20 highway as it came in to land. Baeza also told the media reporters that it's unclear from any of the witnesses if anyone in that car was hurt.

Photos from the scene show first responders trying to help the survivors from the burning wreckage. Flight tracking data shows the plane had departed from San Jose Del Cabo airport in Mexico and was headed  to Austin, before it was re-directed towards Laredo, Texas.

What caused the crash

The police spokesperson said that they were notified by local airport tower after the pilot reported mechanical issues.  He also told the reporters that the plane had lost contact with Air traffic control before the crash.
